Overview

Camel trekking trips start from M’hamid, the last village before you enter the Sahara desert, and head towards the massive wild Sahara desert. Accompanied by a local team (guide, cooks and camel men) and camels, you will travel just like nomads from one place to another, following the normal path nomads follow. Every day you will be walking for a few hours (2 – 4 hours) before you break for lunch. Afterwards, you resume walking for a few more hours (2 – 3 hours) till you arrive at a camping site where you make your camp for the night. Camel trekking trips will take you to explore the vast and wild Sahara desert which has suffered no human impact and still as it has been for millions of years. Accompanied by a local team who are always proud to show you their traditions, you will get to know a new culture and gain an insight into the lifestyle of the nomads.

Accompanied by our nomad team (guide,camel men and cooks), you start the adventure in the morning after breakfast. You can either walk or ride the camels and go deep in the Sahara desert to explore its magic. After a few hours of trekking in the wild desert, you break for lunch and then walk further until you arrive at Sidi Naji where the mobile camp will be made by the team for the night. the place is named after Sidi Naji who is the father of one of the biggest tribes in the village. this nomadic tribe used to live in this area before finally moving to settle down in the village.

Day 2: Sidi Najji >> Erg Zahar (3-4 hours)

Having spent a glamorous night camping under the stars and enjoying the sound of silence, you resume exploring what the Sahara has to enchant you with. you head west towards the almighty dunes of Erg Zahar. After a few hours of walking you will be welcomed by the fascinating golden dunes of Erg Zahar. In the middle of no where, standing before this nature-made masterpiece will definitely give you goose pimples. you stop for lunch as well as camping for the night in this one of a kind place.

    Options: in the following morning you can head to Erg Ait W’nir and stay overnight there, and the next morning you go back to the semi-permanent camp in the grove of palm trees // a transfer by 4×4 car can be arranged from Erg Zahar to the village

Day 3: Erg Zahar >> Erg S’mar (3-4 hours)

Resuming the adventure in the morning, you move on to explore another magical part of the Sahara, Erg S’mar which served as a farming land for nomads for centuries because of its fertile soil. Heading west, sceneries will change as you approach Erg S’mar whose sand color is a bit different from Erg Zahra’s. After walking for a few hours, you stop for lunch as well as camping for the night in this stunning place.

    Options: in the following morning you can head to Erg Ait W’nir and stay overnight there, and the next morning you go back to the semi-permanent camp in the grove of palm trees // a transfer by 4×4 car can be arranged from Erg S’mar to the village

Day 4: Erg S’mar >> Erg Sadra (3-4 hours)

After breakfast you get ready to start a new adventuresome day. You leave Erg S’mar and head to Erg Sadra which is located between Erg S’mar and Erg Chigaga. walking or riding the camels, you continue exploring the desert as new beautiful sceneries and views unfold until you reach Erg Sadra. You have lunch and make the camp for the night in this peaceful and quiet place

Day 5: Erg Sadra >> Erg Chigaga (3-4 hours)

After a fabulous night in Erg Sadra, accompanied by the team you trek towards Erg Chigaga, the highest sand dune in Morocco and the first desert destination for most travelers. As you approach Erg Chigaga you will be enjoying different desert landscapes. You stop for lunch on the way before arriving in Erg Chigaga where you either spend the night at a semi-permanent camp (if you want to have a shower and sleep in a more comfortable tent) or the team make the mobile camp like the previous nights

Day 6: Erg Chigaga >> BouGarn (3-4 hours)

In the morning you leave the giant dunes of Erg Chigaga heading east towards BouGarn, another charming site in the Sahara desert. On the way you stop for lunch and taking a rest; afterwards you resume your journey to the massive dunes of BouGarn. Once you arrive at BouGarn, the team will make the camp as usual, and you stay overnight in this wonderful place

Day 7: BouGarn >> Lbour (3-4 hours)

Having had your breakfast, you get ready to depart BouGarn passing a plateau of rocky desert on the way to Lbour. It is a different aspect of the Sahara desert, which is known for big Tamarisk trees. You break for lunch as usual and then continue your journey until you get to Lbour where you stay overnight

Day 8: Lbour >> M’hamid / Rassnkhel (3-4 hours)

After a lifetime experience in the Sahara desert, it is time to return to civilization. In the morning you pack your stuff to go back to the village or to the semi-permanent camp in the grove of the palm trees
