Combo Tour From Marrakesh

Overview

This tour starts in Marrakesh and heads south. It crosses the High Atlas Mountains via Tizin Tichka pass and stops to explore Kasbah Telouate and Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. It then follows the road south to Ouarzazate and Agdz where you will stay overnight. The following day, it continues south, passing by many old villages and oases along the bank of Daraa Valley until it reaches M’hamid, the last village before you enter the Sahara desert. You will then drive off-road for two hours to get to the camp surrounded by the massive dunes of Chigaga. To allow for maximum time in the desert, you can stay at the camp for 1 or 2 more nights. after the desert you head north to Tinghir and then Fes. you will also visit Chafchouane as well as Rabat and Casablanca before you head back to Marrakesh. Day 1: Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou

Setting out the journey from Marrakesh in the morning, you will head towards the High Atlas Mountains and cross them via Tizin Tichka pass –beautiful landscapes and breathtaking views of small Berber villages deep down in the valleys. You stop a couple of times on the way in order to drink a coffee or take a picture as well as stopping for lunch on the way. You will resume driving south until you arrive at Kasbah Talouate, once was the Castle of Pasha El Galaoui, and then Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou in the afternoon. The old Kasbah is a great sample of Moroccan earthen architecture and has been a world heritage site since 1987. 1h:30 is enough to visit the old Kasbah before you go to your hotel.

Day 2: Ait Ben Haddou to Chigaga

After breakfast you will leave Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou heading to the Sahara desert. On the way you will stop in Taznakht, the Berber carpet town. You can visit a women cooperative of making carpets in this town. You will keep driving to the desert until you arrive in Foum Zguid, a town on the edge of the Sahara desert, where you will stop for lunch. 4WD cars will be waiting for you there since you are going to be driving off road for 3 hours to get to the camp in the middle of the desert. Around an hour before sunset you will go on a camel ride tour to the big dunes nearby to watch a stunning sunset and come back to the camp. After dinner a campfire will be set in the center of the camp. While sitting around the fire and stargazing, the locals will play some traditional music, and it will be also a good chance to have your questions about the nomad’s culture and traditions answered.

Day 3: Chigaga to Tinghir

In the morning you will drive towards M’hamid, on the other side of the Sahara desert, where you will have a short stop for coffee before you continue driving to Tinghir. Around 1 hour from M’hamid you arrive in Tamagroute where you will not only have the chance to see how green pottery is made, but also to visit the old Quranic library. You will explore more of the wonders of the south of Morocco along the way as you follow the road to Tinghir. You will stop for lunch on the way and after that you will head to visit Todra Gorges. You will hike in the gorges area for an hour to explore the beauty of the place and enjoy the nice breeze that travels through the valley. Having visited the massive gorges you will go to your hotel.

Day 4: Tinghir to Fes

After a relaxed night in Tinghir, you will follow the road north to your next destination which is Fes. You will be exploring another part of Morocco with different sceneries driving across The Middle Atlas mountains. You will stop for lunch on the way and then resume driving until you get to Ifran, a quite Swiss-like town, where you will stop for a coffee. You will arrive in Fes in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Fes – Volubilis – Chefchaouen

After breakfast in your Riad, you will drive across the Saiss Plain to the archaeological site of Volubilis, one of the richest and most important world heritage sites in Morocco. This site covers an area of 42 hectares, and it showcases urban development at the frontiers of the Roman Empire. It has produced many art materials such as mosaics, marble, and bronze sculpture. This site is also considered important to various civilizations like the Libyco-Berber, Mauritanian, Roman, Christian, and Arabo-Islamic. It is a testimony to their history, beliefs, and artistic works. From here, we will drive across the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen. Enjoy the breathtaking views around every corner that the varied scenery of the mountains together with the open countryside fields has to offer. When you arrive at Chefchaouen, the beauty of this gorgeous town will strike you.

Day 7: Chefchaouen

After breakfast in your Riad, get ready to enjoy the charming narrow streets of Chefchaouen with houses and artisans’ shops painted in different shades of blue and white colors, creating a marvelous picture. A photo in front of one of its blue doors or walls makes a perfect Instagram picture.
Apart from being the most photogenic destination in Morocco, Chefchaouen is also a calm, chilling, and laid-back town. Walk up and down the tangled streets of the Medina. The latter’s architecture showcases an Andalusian influence. Enjoy a walk through its narrow blue streets, which also serve as a street market, displaying some of Morocco’s finest handicraft and leather products, for which the town is best known.
Because of the relaxed ambiance of Chefchaouen, which is hardly found in bigger cities, you will enjoy strolling at leisure in the maze-like streets until you reach the busy Plaza Uta El Hammam, where the Kasbah is located.
Afterwards, You will go on a hiking adventure in Akchour. It is a small town, located in the lower part of the Talembote Valley, which in turn is part of the Talassemtane National Park. It’s around 20 miles (30km) from Chafchaouen (approximately 40 minutes). Once you have left the main street and the parking lot you will come to a dam. You will take the waterfalls route. you’ll see how the Kelaa River influences the environment, flowing parallel to the trail at all times and crossing it on numerous occasions. Eventually, You will arrive at the Grande Cascade, a geological formation over 220 feet high (70 m) where the water flows through the layers of moss and mud that have accumulated and petrified over the years in front of a rocky wall. You will also enjoy a delicious Tajine cooked on coal before heading back to your hotel.

Day 8: Chefchaouen to Casablanca

After a memorable experience in Chefchaouen, you will drive to Casablnca passing by Rabat, the capital where you can stop for lunch and maybe visit the city time permitting. In the late afternoon, you will arrive in Casablanca.

Day 9: Casablanca to Marrakech

After breakfast in your hotel, you will start exploring the city’s most visit worthy sites. You will first visit Hassan 2 Mosque, the third largest mosque in the world and the largest in Africa. You will take a guided tour inside the mosque to enjoy the excellent architectural features. After having lunch in Casablanca, you will head south to Marrakesh.

Day 10: Marrakech to Ouzoud waterfalls

Your day tour from Marrakech to Ouzoud waterfalls will start with a 3 hours drive north of Marrakech by crossing the Tadla plains with hundreds of olive tree farms, peach, and apricot.
Upon arrival at the village, start your walking journey downhill to the sources while admiring the splendid views of the 110 m high cascades of Ouzoud with a permanent rainbow as a backdrop. En route, some local Barbary apes that do expect some nuts from you will greet you along the way !
Local cafés are available next to the stream for a light lunch and to relax before you walk up to the village and meet your driver to return to Marrakech.
Your day trip to Ouzoud waterfalls will end late in the afternoon in Marrakech with a drop off at your hotel or the nearest accessible point to your riad.
